2026–2027 Jazz Band Information & Commitment Letter

Dear Jazz Band Member and Parents/Guardians,

Congratulations! Your child has been selected for the 2026–2027 Mitchell Middle School Jazz Band! Auditions were extremely competitive this year, and earning a spot is a real accomplishment. We're excited for a year of hard work, great music, and memorable performances!

This letter outlines our expectations, rehearsal schedule, performance commitments, and communication process. Please read carefully, and sign acknowledgement (see link below) no later than Friday, October 30th.

Rehearsals
When: Mondays & Wednesdays at 7:15 AM in the middle school band room.
Be Early: Arrive in time to set up and warm up so rehearsal begins promptly.
Weather: If school is canceled or delayed, rehearsal is also canceled.
Cancellations and Reminders: Announced through TeamReach.
Performances (Mandatory)

Performances and festivals are the highlights of our season — showcasing the hard work students put in. Attendance is required except in cases of illness or family emergency.

Apr 27, 2027Palace City Jam, Moose Lodge, Mitchell — 7:00 PM
Performance Attire — All Black
Boys — Black button-down shirt & black pants.
Girls — may wear a black dress (knee length or longer).
Plan ahead for winter/spring weather during travel.
Please make sure your child has this attire BEFORE our first performance. Contact me if you have any concerns acquiring this — we have ways to help!
Attendance & Behavior
Attendance matters! Every rehearsal and performance counts toward our success.
Be on time, prepared, and respectful. Students should be seated and warmed up BEFORE 7:15 AM!
Three-strike policy: Three unexcused absences or tardies may result in removal from the group.
Excused absences: Please notify me by TeamReach message or email (not by phone) if something unavoidable comes up.
Conduct: Students represent Mitchell Middle School. Language, actions, and behavior should always reflect maturity and pride. Poor behavior can also result in dismissal.
Communication

We use TeamReach for all jazz band updates.

By signing, I commit to the following as a member of the 2026/2027 Mitchell Middle School Jazz Band:

I will come prepared and give my best effort in every rehearsal and performance.
I will be ready to rehearse at 7:15 AM sharp every day!
I will participate in all concerts and competitions unless prevented by illness or family emergency.
I understand and agree to the attendance and behavior policies.
